Strategic Partnership & Civil Works Delivery

Project: Tindal Airbase Upgrade (363 Tindal AIR 70001B) & Delamere Bombing Range

Partner: Sitzler & Department of Defence

Location: RAAF Base Tindal (Dagoman Country) & Delamere Bombing Range (Wardaman Country)

The Partnership & Civil Delivery Sitzler has been a key partner in NGML’s growth, playing an integral role in our startup phase by supporting us to get local Aboriginal workers on the ground. For the Air 7000 civil works project, Sitzler engaged NGML to provide comprehensive labour hire, including labourers, machine operators, and a civil engineer, alongside equipment hire.

Cultural Guidance & Defence Relations Operating on Dagoman and Wardaman Country requires profound respect and understanding of the land. Throughout the project, our Director, May Rosas, provided crucial informal cultural guidance, sharing her extensive knowledge of the cultural stories and sacred sites across both locations to ensure works were conducted safely and respectfully.

Beyond the civil works, NGML established a strong, direct relationship with Defence. Recognised as a respected Traditional Owner and Elder, May was invited to deliver Welcome to Country and keynote speeches at important Defence events, including the official openings of the completed works.

To commemorate the successful collaboration between Defence, Sitzler, and NGML, our cultural enterprise division was commissioned to source, create, and paint authentic didgeridoos. These were presented to esteemed Defence members and Government Ministers, serving as a powerful symbol of authentic culture and shared success.

The Impact and Outcomes This project was a resounding success, not just in civil delivery, but in creating meaningful, long-term employment pathways for local Aboriginal people on their own Country.

  • Career Pathways: At the completion of the project, our team of local Indigenous workers, including young school leavers, successfully transitioned into full-time trades and occupations, such as Plumbing, Auto Electrics, Heavy Machinery Operations, and Truck Driving.
  • Professional Growth: The Civil Engineer employed through NGML gained vital industry experience and went on to complete several subsequent projects with Sitzler.
  • Business Capability: Through this ongoing relationship, NGML has strengthened its operational capacity, built robust industry experience, and proven our reliability.

This successful delivery positions NGML perfectly to expand our services to other civil construction companies, defence-related projects, local government, and private sector clients
